Module 8: will address the theme “DIGITAL CULTURAL STORYTELLING”.
In the module, you’ll find information about:
- Classical and digital storytelling and their features;
- Storytelling’s Narrative Schemes;
- Storytelling in the digital and educational fields;
- Storytelling on The Brain;
- How To Become a Digital Storyteller and Involve Your Audience;
In particular, Unit 1 will focus on the storytelling and its features.
The term “storytelling” refers to the act of narrating and outlines the discipline that uses the principles of rhetoric and narratology to organise and present content. Storytelling is inextricably linked to the history of human culture.
In Unit 2 we will find information about 8 Storytelling’s narrative schemes.
Narrative schemes are meta structures, in other words, they can be found in any narrative, old or new. They are structures that are relatively stable in form but flexible in their content (e.g. more or less modern) or format (classical or digital).
Unit 3 will explore how we’re going towards digital storytelling. Therefore, in this module, you will learn in brief what is digital storytelling.
In Unit 4 we will focus on Educational storytelling. Today, digital storytelling finds ample space for use in the educational and training fields. Digital Storytelling, in this sense, can be a great educational tool for students who are tasked with creating their own stories.
In Unit 5 we will speak about Effective Marketing Storytelling. Storytelling is the new way of Marketing. In this module, you’ll learn 4 elements of a marketing strategy based on storytelling and some case studies of success.
In Unit 6 we will give you some advice for an efficient cultural narration. Cultural Storytelling can help to build a meaningful relationship with the audience and the stakeholders involved.
In this module, we will explore three examples of Storytelling to communicate cultural heritage.
In Unit 7 we will speak about storytelling on the brain. Storytelling has a great impact on the brain, in this module, you’ll learn about it, not only; also, how to use this aspect practically.
In Unit 8 we will explore the interactive narration. Storytelling consists in using stories to create emotions, in the field of video games, it facilitates and promotes the involvement of players.
Furthermore, if the goal of storytelling is to create sharing, then this happens more strongly in this digital-interactive form since it is also possible to form online communities in which to play remotely and communicate live, or, to use the technology of immersion and extension of reality.
In Unit 9 we will speak about Storyteller and his audience. In this module, you will learn how to become a digital storyteller and involve your audience. You will find communication skills and technical skills to learn these topics through examples.
In Unit 10 we will trace some Conclusion and further remarks. In particular, in this module, we will share with you a very brief recap of the nuclear theme of Module 8.
